Ep 8: Financial Forecast: How Planning is Like the Weather

Financial lessons can be found everywhere you look, even on The Weather Channel. Today we’re taking four common weather terms and finding the equivalent in retirement planning.

When you look at the weather forecast, there’s a really good chance you aren’t thinking about your financial plan.

That might change after listening to this episode of The Retirement Huddle.

Since it’s hurricane season and we’re all keeping a close eye on The Weather Channel, we decided to see if there are any financial comparisons to make with the terminology we hear from meteorologists.

If you look close enough to anything, there are lessons to be learned and that’s what we found out on this show. We ask Mark to tell us about these four weather items:

•Tornadoes

•The Jet Stream

•Heat Index

•Black Ice

Check out the podcast and find out what the financial equivalent to each one of the things is. You’d be surprised just how closely related these seem after Mark explains them all.

Thanks for listening! We’ll be back for another show every other Thursday.

Today’s rundown:

[1:03] – What are the tornadoes of the financial world?

[3:23] – The Jet Stream

[4:39] – The Heat Index

[6:18] – Black Ice
